Nelson Saturday Market

Established in 1978 and operating from its current site in Montgomery Square since 1979, the Nelson Saturday Market is a local (and national) treasure.

The market has been operated by founder/owner Nita Knight since its inception with her son Jason working as Operations Manager for the past 20 years. The market has hosted royalty and many tv crews over the years and is beloved by locals and visitors alike.

Clem and I love walking through the market most Saturdays, chatting with friends who are regular market stallholders and bumping into people we know from further afield.

We're regular shoppers at the market for clothes, pottery, jewellery, fruit and veges, flowers, and a wide range of other artisan products.

Stalls are carefully selected by Nita to ensure that products are high quality and the market retains its reputation for vibrancy. If you're in Nelson on a Saturday come on down!
