Jacquie:
“I am a born Kiwi. Clem and I met in 2003 when a mutual friend realised that Clem and his partner had sold a lodge in Golden Bay that my fiance and I were thinking about buying. We talked about the realities of running an accommodation and hospitality business and over the telling of that story and many others we all became good friends.
“Now, after more than 20 years of friendship, raising children, and changes in each other’s lives, we are husband and wife.
“We both love the stories that people tell. We are curious and ask questions. Clem
captures the essence of people and places with his photographs and I do it
with words. We both love connecting the people we meet and the businesses they own with opportunities to be seen. We want them to attract their ideal customers.”
Clem:
“I am a Kiwi by choice (I’m originally from The Netherlands). I came to New Zealand after a friend wrote to me to tell me how great it was. I didn’t intend to settle here, but got offered a job as a chef at the Dux De Lux in Christchurch and stayed. I fell in love with the natural beauty of New Zealand. Being able to live somewhere that was so close to both the mountains and the sea was so different from my home country.
“I’ve always been someone who created my own opportunities and over the past forty years I’ve started businesses in hospitality, accommodation, and promotion which have taken me all around New Zealand.
“I love to take images that make people want to be there too – whether that’s to take a step through the doorway, a walk in the garden, or eat the delicious food they can see in my photos.”
Clem and Jacquie have:
- Owned and operated a boutique lodge (Clem)
- Operated a destination cafe (Clem)
- Photographed hotels, motels, and B&B Lodges around New Zealand (Clem)
- Operated an award-winning marketing and public relations consultancy (Jacquie)
- Written and pitched many hundreds of pieces of media coverage which have appeared on national television, on the radio, in print, and online (Jacquie)
- Worked on the development and launch of a regional brand identity (Jacquie)
- Promoted leading hospitality and tourism businesses (Jacquie and Clem)
