Te Mahuru Retreat (Kaikōura)

We've stayed at Mahuru Retreat just north of the Kaikōura town centre several times now and it's hard to beat in terms of a warm welcome, value, and comfort.

Host Jen (and her cute dog companions) always provide genuine hospitality, from the fresh flowers from her garden in every room, to the freshly baked bread in the breakfast spread. The beds are comfortable and the two spa pool areas offer a relaxing end to the day if you've been on the road, and beautiful views of the stars on a clear night and the nearby range of mountains in its seasonal hues (including snow in the cooler months).

Just down the road Donegal House offers options for dining out but you can also make your own lunch and dinner in the well equipped kitchen at Mahuru Retreat and relax in the guest lounge or in the well-tended garden area.

Mahuru Retreat is great for families, couples, or singles who are travelling and attracts New Zealanders and international tourists. You're guaranteed an interesting conversation with your fellow guests over breakfast!
