Moutere Inn (Upper Moutere)
Many a weary traveller has taken respite in this fine establishment during its 125-year history. It's the oldest public house in New Zealand and is still in its original building.
The Inn is a popular weekend destination for motorcyclists, Nelsonians, and visitors to the region.
What perhaps isn't so well known is that the food is excellent. They make their own aioli, offer an epic curry, and cater for all tastes.
The wine list features the products of vineyards within a 10km radius, which really appealed to us. If you like a craft beer you'll also find plenty of choices on offer.
Sitting outside on a sunny day and righting the wrongs of the world, with or without your dog in tow – what better way is there to while away an afternoon?
