The Cow Shed (Murchison)

Sometimes it's amazing how many times you can drive past something and not notice it's there. This is the case for The Cow Shed in Murchison. According to the member of staff who showed us to our table, The Cow Shed has been operating for more than 13 years but this was the first time we'd seen the sign on the main road through Murchison. How on earth had we missed it?
But what a great discovery it was!! Head down the path and through the indoor/bar area and there's a beautiful garden setting. The menu was also a wonderful surprise and we were treated to an absolutely delicious pizza and excellent crispy fries. As someone who once had a food cart serving double-fried Belgian-style fries, Clem is fussy about his fries, but he declared the ones at The Cow Shed to be top notch.
I enjoyed a well-made Aperol Spritz and Clem enjoyed a no alcohol beer. It was the perfect stop on the way home from a lovely trip from Christchurch.
If you're staying in Murchison or passing through make sure you find your way to The Cow Shed. It doesn't take reservations and it's open from 4:30pm. (Read all about the story of the start of the business here).
